PS-U-GO
Project Timeline
January - August 2024Development of the pedagogical framework
PS-U-GO partners are dedicated to developing a robust pedagogical framework, starting from a community of practice that leverages their experience and research of best practices.
This framework will guide activities in the four Urban Living Labs (ULLs), designed as dynamic educational spaces. The main goal is to equip students with the participatory skills and competencies needed for sustainable urban governance. The development process emphasizes situated learning, where students engage directly with real-world urban challenges. This is achieved through a co-creation process involving stakeholders from academia, civil society, local residents, and authorities.January - August 2024Building of the validation framework
This framework involves both self-assessment and formal validation procedures. It is designed to ensure that the innovative teaching methods and participatory activities within ULLs effectively develop students' participatory skills and competencies.
The framework includes specific criteria for transparent and effective validation, integrating assessment tasks into the ULLs. It will be implemented across four cities, with continuous reflection and adaptation based on qualitative research. The ultimate goal is to create a replicable model for validating participatory skills in urban governance education.January - November 2024Urban Living Labs design and initiation
UCY, BTU, CNR - IRISS and PUSH coordinated by Urban Foxes, will set up four Urban Living Labs (ULLs) in four European cities to facilitate participatory and sustainable urban governance.
This process includes:- Local Context Analysis: Conducting thorough research to understand the unique social, cultural, and urban dynamics of each city.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Identifying and involving key stakeholders from academia, civil society, local authorities, and residents to ensure diverse participation and representation.
- Methodology Selection: Adapting and selecting appropriate participatory tools and methods tailored to the specific needs and contexts of each ULL.
September 2024 - September 2025Training Events
SF:ius will organize and coordinate three training events for UCY and BTU students. The first two will be held in person in Brussels and Naples, while the third will be held online involving multiple students in knowledge exchange activities. Participants in the trainings will serve as ambassadors for other students during the ULLs implementation.December 2024 - October 2025ULLs implementation
December 2024 - May 2026Qualitative research
SF:ius will conduct the qualitative research (including field-work at the four ULLs) and will develop the research report reflecting on Living Labs implementation. This qualitative research will ensure a deep, context-sensitive understanding of the urban environments, informing and enhancing the planning and management of sustainable urban governance.January - September 2026Local Multiplier Events
Organized in each partner city to showcase the work and outcomes of the Urban Living Labs (ULLs). These events will involve presentations, discussions, and interactive sessions to share experiences and promote local solutions.September 2026Participatory skills manual
The PS-U-GO project includes the development of a comprehensive manual focused on practicing participatory skills within architecture and planning education. This manual aims to equip students and educators with the necessary tools and methodologies to effectively engage in participatory processes.December 2026International Multiplier Event
PS-U-GO final event will be held in Nicosia, bringing together all project partners and a wide array of international stakeholders to discuss and disseminate the project's overall results and best practices.
